Hi. We’re The Drinks Desk — and like everything else on this site, we’ve tried to write this in plain English rather than impenetrable legal jargon. We want you to actually read it.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We take your privacy seriously, and we comply with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2012, which governs how organisations in Singapore collect, use, and disclose personal data.

Who We Are
The Drinks Desk is an independent drinks industry publication based in Singapore, focused on the Singapore and Asia-Pacific drinks trade. When we refer to “we”, “us”, or “our” throughout this policy, we mean The Drinks Desk and its owners.
What Data We Collect
We only collect what we actually need. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
Information you give us directly:
- Your name and email address when you sign up for our newsletter or mailing list
- Your name, email, and any other details you choose to share when you contact us or submit a pitch to write for us
- Any information you voluntarily provide in correspondence with us
Information collected automatically:
- Basic website analytics — pages visited, time spent on site, general location data (country/city level), device type, and traffic source
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (more on this below)
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as financial information, identification numbers, or anything we don’t need to run a publication.
Why We Collect It
We collect and use your data for the following purposes:
- To send you our newsletter — if you’ve signed up, we’ll email you our latest content. You can unsubscribe at any time, no questions asked
- To respond to your enquiries — if you contact us or pitch us an article, we’ll use your details to get back to you
- To improve the website — analytics help us understand what content is resonating and how people are finding us
- To comply with legal obligations — we’ll retain or disclose data if required to do so by Singapore law
We will never use your data for anything beyond what’s listed here without asking you first.
Who We Share Your Data With
The short answer: almost nobody.
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run The Drinks Desk — things like our email newsletter platform and website analytics provider. These services may process your data on our behalf, but only for the purposes outlined above and never for their own marketing use.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. Ever.
If we are ever required to disclose your data by law or regulatory authority in Singapore, we will comply with that obligation.

- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Withdraw consent for us to use your data at any time
- Request deletion of your data, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain it

Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. What we can tell you is that we take this seriously and keep the data we hold to a minimum.
Third Party Links
Our articles may occasionally link to external websites. Once you leave The Drinks Desk, this privacy policy no longer applies and we have no control over how those sites handle your data. We’d recommend checking their privacy policies directly.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we’ll post the revised version here with an updated date at the top. We’re not planning on making it more complicated — if anything, we’ll try to make it clearer over time.
